SELMA, Ala. (WSFA) – Craig Field Airport and Industrial Authority will receive a grant to fund cleanup of a historic site on base, U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell, AL-07, announced Thursday afternoon.

Sewell, along with EPA Region 4 Administrator Jeaneanne Gettle, announced that the airport will get a $556,000 EPA grant to clean the abandoned Craig Field Gym Complex.

The half-acre site was once a historical gym used as a recreational facility by Craig Air Force Base personnel, but now sits vacant.

Once cleaned, the facility will be once again put to use.
